Aversa. Maxi fire in Viale Europa: the day after

It’s the day after the huge fire that broke out yesterday in the Rascato warehouse, a thermo-hydraulic business in Viale Europa in Aversa.

Before our eyes melted plastic materials, burned vegetation and cars, damaged neighboring buildings.

The fire – which also hit the adjacent streets: Via Altavilla, Via IV Novembre – occurred yesterday around 12. Numerous reports from citizens to the 115 switchboards.

The Red Helmets mobilized several teams (also arriving from outside the province) on site to put out the fire which released a huge cloud of black smoke which made the air unbreathable not only in the area but also in the neighboring municipalities.

The flames touched some homes near the depot: 5 cars were also destroyed.

Someone slept away from home, with friends or relatives; others preferred to stay in their homes for fear of looting.

For a family unit, however, the apartment is unusable as reported by the Fire Brigade after the inspection.

On site, Fire Brigade personnel are busy carrying out measurements useful for the investigation and establishing the causes of the fire.

Findings that will have to establish the ignition and departure of the flames which many ‘registered’ right in the Rascato warehouse but the activity itself stated that “the fire originated in adjacent land, where there were containers. Our cameras confirmed the origin of the fire“.

A thesis also supported by some residents of the area who saw a fire start right in the land adjacent to the business.

The owner of the land denies this, sending the accusations back to the sender.

Facts that will have to be ascertained by the investigators and the Judicial Fire Brigade.

This morning the mayoral candidate of the civic coalition Franco Matacena was also present and brought his closeness to the families.

Meanwhile, Arpac also intervened by installing, near the site of the fire, a high-volume sampler to search for dioxins and furans possibly dispersed in the atmosphere.
