The territorial management of the SVP has decided not to proceed with ties in view of the next ballot on 8 and 9 June in Laives. A choice that respects the line proposed to its voters during the first round, but which does not preclude possible alliances in the future. «Our first concern – explains mayoral candidate Giovanni Seppi – it is respecting those who gave us their preference last Sunday. In this electorate we know there are different positions that converge on the idea of working on issues and skills. It would be incorrect to decide a priori to take one of the parties before a clear and precise mandate.» Seppi, therefore, intends to maintain its autonomy in the race and then delve into all the technical discussions in the event of a final investiture.
«It was nice to meet all the political forces in these days. The discussion is always very useful and it was encouraging to see everyone involved in this work. The climate has always been positive and constructive. For our part, we explained to everyone our nature as Sammelpartei and our position on the individual projects. In reality we have this in common with all sides and I really appreciated the profiles of some new councilors who bring valuable new skills to the city council. Regardless of the color of the party, these are values that are made available to the community and which can bring benefits to all citizens. Because of this I also expressed myself in favor of possible specific delegations for some councilors beyond what will be the council. I believe that all the candidates only want to do the good of the Municipality as a priority.»
Numbers in hand, the next city council allows for any type of scenario in the formation of the future majority. Also based on individual parties versus coalitions. “For this reason – continues Seppi – in the event of an election I will listen to the parties individually. We will have more targeted interviews. I am happy, however, to have found great interest with the aim of doing good for Laives. I think I can say that there are excellent foundations to do well in the next six years with very high level personalities in all sides that can be exploited. Even moving away from the classic centre-left and centre-right patterns could become an asset for the whole city.»

What will the times be? «If I were to become mayor immediately. In the first three days it is necessary to write a draft administrative program and then start with the consultations to understand the composition of a new council and of a majority as shared as possible with a solid prospect of stability. In the meantime, let’s leave maximum freedom of choice to all citizens by returning to thank all those who place their trust in my approach to public affairs.”
