He can’t find a seat on the bus to go on an excursion to Egypt, where he was on holiday with his wife and rents a van. But while they were going to the location a sudden and violent crash kills him. The victim’s name was David Baggio, 56 years old, resident in Cittadella, human resources manager at Orv Manufacturing in Carmignano di Brenta.

The accident

The accident occurred on June 29. The manager was on vacation with his wife Chiara Tombolato in the seaside resort of Hurghada on the Red Sea. The woman was saved: stabilized on site by emergency doctors, she was then rushed to El Gouna Hospital in Hurghada. According to initial investigations by the Egyptian police, the couple had turned to an official excursion service for a trip from Hurghada to Luxor. However, the bus had no seats available for Chiara and Davide, forcing them to turn to a private service, a van with a driver. During the trip, Chiara sat next to the driver, while Davide sat in the back.

The tire that bursts

Initial reconstructions do not exclude that the accident was caused by the sudden explosion of one of the vehicle’s tires. This would have caused the driver to lose control, leading the van crashed violently into the guardrail. Davide Baggio died instantly, the driver was unharmed and gave his testimony to the authorities at the scene of the accident. The investigation into the accident is still ongoing to establish the precise dynamics and causes.
