The ease with which the early permanence was obtained cannot detract from the value of Lecce’s 2023/2024 feat. The group led first by Roberto D’Aversa and then by Luca Gotti gave the second salvation of the Saverio Sticchi Damiani presidency, which is added to the three promotions (two in A). Another great success with the victory over Sampdoria (competing not to be relegated) plus the small score against Cagliari (3-3 thanks to Corvia at the end) before yet another slip (Genoa-Lecce 4-2 and Chievo-Lecce 1-0 ) and, fortunately, of the triumph dictated by the victory against Napoli (2-1 with an epic goal by Chevanton) before the 0-2 in Bari.
Little to tell in the 2011/2012. Lecce, coached first by Di Francesco and then by Cosmi, always sailed in the most dangerous areas of the table. The reaction given by the man from the river was not enough to hook Genoa. The decline in the second round instead marked the 2019/2020. After a championship always out of the bottom three, Lecce fell to 18th after the clear defeat against Atalanta (2-7), making the triptych of Napoli-Turin-SPAL successes in vain. The lockdown and the tight pace of the restart then affected the performance of a squad not equipped for such close commitments. On the contrary, they succeeded in a feat similar to the current ones Zeman (2004/2005), Cavasin (1999/2000, 2000/2001) and Mazzone (1989/1990).
