Serie C playoffs, semi-finals: Carrarese dreams, balance between Avellino and Vicenza

The endless sequence of Serie C playoffs is approaching its final act. This evening, at 9pm, the return leg of the two semi-finals will see the hosts playing against Carrarese in Benevento, and a few kilometers further north, Vicenza and Avellino. In the first leg there were two very hard-fought and tense matches, with little emotion and only one goal, that of Carrarese scored by Finotto. Let’s look at the two challenges in detail.

Serie C Playoffs, Benevento-Carrarese (0-1)

Benevento forced to recover the disadvantage suffered a few days ago; let’s therefore expect an offensive performance from the Campania team. The Giallorossi are back from three consecutive victories at home, which rises to six in the last ten home games (then three draws and only one knockout). In this period of time, Benevento has conceded goals in just three matches, building their victories thanks to the defensive phase.
On the other hand, Carrarese suffered draws away from home in the second part of the season, marking their matches with the X sign seven times in the last ten. However, there are two victories in the last three away games.
Considering the value of the squad and the numbers obtained this season, we opt for a victory for Benevento with a clean sheet kept.

Serie C playoffs, Vicenza-Avellino (0-0)

Avellino missed the opportunity at home to move ahead in the series, giving Vicenza the match point within friendly walls. In fact, at the Romeo Menti, the red and whites have not lost since mid-December, then collecting eight victories and four draws in the following twelve matches. Three consecutive domestic clean sheets, and eleven games scored in the last twelve.
Avellino away from home have won only one match in the last eight, conceding goals in seven of these. Campania could be ahead due to the technical level of the squad, but the field factor and the precedents favor Vicenza, who therefore starts as the favourite.
The last two direct clashes played in Veneto ended 0-0, while Avellino has never beaten Vicenza away from home. Out of seven matches between the two teams played at the home of the red and whites, there have been four draws and three home victories. In the last four matches between these two teams, only one team has scored.
We predict a narrow victory for Vicenza.
