Fifteen children from“Santa Margherita” Comprehensive Instituteled by Prof. Fulvia Ferlito, participated in the World Children’s Day to Rome Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th May.
The students were all enthusiastic about the experience, together with their parents and teachers Maria Concetta Bottari and Antonina Busà, who accompanied them. They were two engaging days and, on the afternoon of May 25th, I Olympic Stadium the dialogue took place with Pope francesco and various songs were sung, from the famous ones ofGold Zecchino“, at theHymn from the Day “We are“, up to those of great artists.
The short film “Io Capitano” by was screened Antonio Garronethe show was performed Cirque du Soleil and the children watched a short football match, played between the posts by the great former goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon. Adults and children performed, putting on a show and creating beauty, but above all communicating the values of being together, offriendshipfrom the peacerespect andhospitality.
On the morning of Sunday 26 May all the students went to meet in St. Peter’s Squareto participate in the Eucharistic celebration with Pope francesco. There Square in a few hours it filled up, colored by multiple nationalities and languages united by the desire to ask for peace in the world. Many flags waving under the scorching sun, many smiles exchanged, many glances returned, many spontaneous initiatives, typical of children, such as improvising ballets, doing pirouettes, posing for souvenir photos or repeating phrases with Pope francesco. The Pontiff he exclaimed “The Holy Spirit is the one who accompanies us in life“, demonstrating an exceptional charge of vitality, capable of changing the fate of humanity, ensuring that children become a model for adults to “make all things new”.
