Around 200 people took part in the «General States of young people». Half of these were under 30. Just under a month later, the councilor for youth policies, Anna Frattini, the mayor Laura Castelletti and the president of the social cooperative Il Calabrone, Alessandro Augelli, gave their feedback during a press conference the ideas and ideas that emerged.
Participation and care are the key words that emerged from the dialogue between new generations and institutions during the day of sharing and participatory planning which last May 11th brought girls, boys, municipal administrators and third sector entities to sit at the same table to write together the directions that they will guide the political and administrative choices of the future.

The appointment was also an opportunity to summary of the path «Towards the General States of Youth», carried out by the municipal administration in recent months to intercept needs and activate a first series of concrete actions for the benefit of the new generations. During the meetings, in dialogue with the councilor for youth policies Anna Frattini, the participants, all aged 17 to 24, have repeatedly expressed the need for more spaces within the city. For this reason, the Municipality has included in the 2024 major Emblematic tenders of the Cariplo Foundation, within the Strategic Plan, a request for funding to be able to open an informal and aggregative space in the city, which does not provide specific services (as, instead, the cag does , the Youth Information, the pendulum plate) but where you can simply stay and meet.
Another novelty, which concerns the study rooms, is the adoption of a protocolstill in the definition phase, with universities to promote, raise awareness and connect the study rooms of Brescianetworking the municipal structures with those of the city’s universities.
Safety
“Also Significant steps are being taken on the topic of safety – Frattini announced -: the Department of Youth Policies and Equal Opportunities, in collaboration with the local Anti-Violence Centres, is working on the establishment of a network of purple dotssafe places – bars, restaurants, discos and public establishments – capable of welcoming people, in particular women, who at night may feel exposed or have been victims of threats, harassment, violence and stalking”. A network of safe points «with the aim of improving the perception of safety on the street and in public spaces – underlined Castelletti -. Furthermore, the Administration’s commitment will also focus on strengthening communication aimed at young and very young people, to facilitate access to information on what is happening in the city and on the opportunities that have been designed for them”.
Overall, the experimental debut of the General States of Youth project proved to be a very effective dialogue experience: on 11 May almost 200 people took an active part in the initiative, participating in the morning inspirational talks at Palazzo Loggia and the afternoon focus groups at Mo.Ca.
Among these, 99 under 30, 76 representatives of cooperatives and associations, 21 male and female administrators, officials of public bodies. Among the under 30s there are many university students, many of them involved in the world of city volunteering, in associations and in neighborhood councils. «During the talks, the issues of nightlife in Carmine and Piazza Vittoria were also touched upon – said Augelli -. Several young people made themselves available to act as stewards for the care of the city.”
