Republic Day is celebrated on 2 June, on the occasion of the anniversary of the institutional referendum of 1946, with which citizens opted in favor of the republican form of state. The celebration of the 78th anniversary of the foundation of the Republic in Terni will begin in Piazza Briccialdi where, at 10.15am, the flag will be raised and laurel wreaths will be laid at the war memorial.
The ceremony will continue from 10.45am in Piazza Cornelio Tacito with the review by the prefect Giovanni Bruno of the picket, the representatives, the banners and the banners.
This year the mixed joint picket will be made up of army personnel, airmen, carabinieri, financiers, state police and penitentiary police agents and, for the first time, also navy personnel.
This will be followed by the reading of the message from the President of the Republic and the presentation of the honors “To the merit of the Italian Republic” in the presence of the mayors of the municipalities of residence of the recipients. To accompany the event, the symphony band of the Giulio Briccialdi state music conservatory of Terni will play the national anthem and perform some musical pieces.
Furthermore, from 9.30am to 1pm, some vehicles from the armed forces, police forces, firefighters, local police and the Red Cross will be on display in Corso Tacito.
From 2.30pm to 6.30pm it will be possible to visit – upon reservation – the “Technical Weapons Collection” at the small arms maintenance center in Terni.
