L’AQUILA – Positive response from ANSFISA to the request for an extension of operations for the Gran Sasso cable car. Pignatelli: “Working to restart the cable car by June”.
There Gran Sasso cable car will be able to start again, thanks to the extension of the period granted by ANSFISA requested by Municipality of L’Aquila. This is an extension that must be renewed every month and a report on the monitoring of the system must be delivered to the same agency on the same deadline.
“The positive response from Ansfisa to the request for an extension of the exercise forwarded by the Municipality – says the sole administrator of the CTGS Dino Pignatelli at Il Centro – demonstrates that the technical framework of the plant has not changed during commissioning and that safety conditions can continue to be guaranteed, as we have always maintained in recent months. We will get to work immediately to plan the activities and periodic checks required, in order to restart the cable car by the month of June, in time for the summer season”.
With the extensions thus granted, the winter season should also be saved.
He had been the mayor Pierluigi Biondi during the last one town Council to account for an initial response from ANSFISA which underlined: “all monitoring procedures already prescribed […] have returned results that do not foresee increases in initial defects”. The request was therefore also being evaluated “given that the municipal administration, in agreement with the undersigned, intends to bring forward the general overhaul works (originally scheduled by 2028) […]” and “considering that the general overhaul works also include the replacement of the four load-bearing ropes and the reasons given by the municipal administration in the note in question are considered acceptable”. Therefore the positive outcome that will restart the cableway for the summer season and, if everything proceeds in the best way, also for the winter one.
