01/06/2024 – A tragedy occurred in the waters in front of the Gilberto baths, on Levante beach. In the late afternoon of Friday 31 May, a lifeguard noticed a man floating about 20 meters from the rocks. The alarm was immediately raised, but unfortunately, when 118 arrived, there was nothing more that could be done. Resuscitation efforts were in vain and death was confirmed on the spot.

The Pesaro Coast Guard intervened at the site of the tragedy and recovered the body. Investigation operations continued throughout the night in an attempt to identify the body and determine the causes of death.

The victim is a man between 60 and 70 years old. At the time of recovery, he was wearing only a bathing suit and had no personal effects with him that could aid in identification. Even the beach managers said they didn’t know him.

The circumstances of his death remain uncertain. It’s unclear how long the man had been in the water; he may have dived long before the discovery and been dragged by the current. A sudden illness could have been fatal to him.
