Monza Landscape Week – Royal Palace of Monza

Monza Landscape Week it is the first event totally dedicated to the landscape, which from 27 to 31 May will take place in Royal Villa in Monza, with a preview of events in the area that will take place starting from Sunday 26th.
The objective of the event is to increase culture, awareness and experience of the landscape, promote awareness of places and widespread territorial quality.

Scientific and institutional contributions. Monza Landscape Week 2024 offers five days of meetings in the Hall of Honor of the Villa Reale.

The official inauguration will take place Monday 27 May with institutional greetings from the Mayor and the Territorial Government Councilor. The guiding theme of the day will be the heritage widespread in the city of Monza and beyond, with interventions by personalities from the academic world and institutions to observe the landscape in its facets – from its protection to governance models – and analyze its historical characteristics geographical areas with particular focus, in the afternoon, on the twentieth-century landscape heritage, of which Monza itself is extremely rich.

In the following days the emphasis will instead be placed on management of regional parks; on greenery and urban regeneration; on biodiversity and landscape transformations in the last centuries of history to arrive at the last day with insights into the effects of the landscape on individual health and well-being and on the values ​​of urban greenery in the challenge of sustainability.

At 5.00 pm on May 31st the final moment of synthesis and formulation of the perspectives that will project the public and speakers towards the 2025 edition.

The “Fuori-Festival”. From 26 to 31 May, in parallel with the conference days in Villa Reale, they will be held 20 widespread events: meetings and appointments in various places in the city: guided tours, bicycle excursions, theatrical performances, concerts, photographic exhibitions to explore and discover the landscape of the city, yesterday and today.

Exhibitions, talks and permanent installations. The Festival program is completed by a booklet of seven cultural and in-depth events, including the exhibition of nineteenth-century Lombardy at the Orangery of the Villa Reale and at the Civic Museums until 28 July, and seminars promoted by the College of Surveyors, the Order of Architects and the Order of Engineers Monza and Brianza.

All initiatives require reservations. For meetings in Villa Reale, parking with entrance at Porta Monza is available to the public.

Organizers and Partners. Monza Paesaggio Week 2024 is wanted by the Municipality of Monza and organized in collaboration with the Province of Monza and Brianza; the Valle del Lambro Regional Park, the professional associations of Architects, Engineers, Surveyors, Agronomists, Geologists, Lawyers, Surgeons and Dentists.

The Superintendency of Archaeology, Fine Arts and Landscape for the provinces of Como, Lecco, Monza and Brianza, Pavia, Sondrio and Varese are collaborating on the initiative – bringing their respective technical contributions and academic knowledge; the “Lelio Pagani” Territorial Studies Center; the Polytechnic of Milan; the Iuav University of Venice and the State University of Milan.
