Moreno Zebi is these days in his native Gubbio, where he was born and lives. He is waiting for Marcello Pizzimenti, director of Reggiana, to close the handover with Roberto Goretti, to then go up to Reggio and start work as deputy, Pizzimenti’s ‘right-hand man’, use the term you prefer.
The two have known each other all their lives: they even played together in Foligno in the 2004-2005 season. Moreno, now 44 years old, as a midfielder, Marcello (54 years old) as a central defender. Then Zebi continued to kick the ball with the Foligno shirt, while Pizzimenti first became coach (interim for 4 days), then technical director. Pizzimenti remained in Umbria until 2013, Zebi in 2008-2009 instead went to Cesena in Serie C1, a category that the couple had conquered in Foligno two seasons earlier. Subsequently, Zebi moved to Monza (C1), Poggibonsi (C2), Fano (C2), Jesina and San Nicolò in Serie D, before ending his career in Eccellenza: first at Samb and then in Ravenna (2014-15). For a total of 336 games featuring 10 goals.
A friendship between the two that has never been interrupted. Then it went back to work, when in the 2017-2018 tournament the couple became a trio. It happens in Perugia, where Zebi joins, as team manager, his friend Marcello (sports director) and Roberto Goretti, who is a step higher and holds the position of technical director. The three stayed together for just one season, then Zebi went to work as a diesse in Novara but stayed for very little: from June to December 2019; subsequently he goes to cover the same position in Cesena for two years (June 2020-2022). Finally, the last, complicated adventure back to Novara where he arrived in July 2022 and left in January 2023. In an interview, upon his arrival at Novara he said: “I work with pride and humility. I like comparison and being among the people, authentic football. I am free and passionate.”
