The news that had been in the air for several weeks is official. Sports director Ettore Meli, a pillar and one of the major architects of the fortunes of Città di Sant’Agata, will be the new sporting director of Acireale. The official announcement arrived late this morning from the Granata club itself.
For sports director Ettore Meli, an absolutely deserved arrival in a team that aspires without half measures to achieve important goals, after having amply demonstrated his extraordinary managerial qualities in the blue and white, building a highly respected team even with particularly reduced budgets compared to other teams.
The very first move of the new sporting director Ettore Meli at Acireale is therefore to have brought with him the coach Michele Facciolo, the creator of Città di Sant’Agata’s excellent run on the field last season, which only stopped on the threshold of the playoffs.
Meanwhile, regarding the fate of the Città di Sant’Agata there is still no official news. According to what transpires, in the next few days there will be new meetings between the general director Gianluca Amata and the business groups interested in taking over the leadership of the Santagata training. These are two distinct groups, both with bases in more or less close centers, only one of which with some trait d’union with the Santagata territory within them.
