Lucca, Vannacci sued by Egonu: the dismissal arrives

In Lucca, the investigating judge Alessandro Dal Torrione rejected the request to oppose the request for dismissal presented by Paola Egonu’s defender: the complaint of the Italian volleyball player against the general and MEP of the League Roberto Vannacci was thus dismissed.

Racial hatred, facial features and skin

Incitement to racial hatred was the complaint raised by Egonu against Vannacci. The object of the dispute is the sentence pronounced in public by the senior officer and also reported in his controversial editorial work: “Paola Egonu is Italian, but her facial features and her skin do not represent Italianness which can be seen in all the frescoes, paintings and statues that have reached the present day from the Etruscans”.

Attempts by the parties’ lawyers to reach a clarification were of no avail, with the volleyball player deciding not to submit the complaint and get to the bottom of it. To make the matter even more complicated, the decision of the investigating judge of the military court to reject the request to dismiss the complaint for the same matter. Together with his lawyers, the general, last week elected MEP with the League, also appeared in the courtroom in Lucca.
