BRINDISI – This morning at the Auditorium of the Cittadella della Ricerca in Brindisi, CETMA-DIHSME, the European Hub for the Digital Transition of businesses in Puglia and Basilicata, was officially presented, gathering its partners in the presence of international guests and illustrious representatives from the world of economic development.

The Innovation Hub was created in the context of the “Digital Europe Programme” to support the digital transformation of European societies and economies, which envisaged the creation of a European network of digital innovation hubs (European Digital Innovation Hubs – EDIHs), pre-selected by individual Member States and subsequently selected by the European Commission.

“The purpose of the CETMA-DIHSME Hub – explains Marco Alvisi General Director of CETMA, Lead Partner of the project – is to ensure the digital transition of industry, with particular reference to SMEs, and of public administration through the adoption of advanced technologies, such as artificial intelligence, high performance computing, cybersecurity”.

Taking part in the official presentation was Raffaele Fitto, Minister for European Affairs, the South, cohesion policies and the PNRR. On the occasion, Fitto, speaking of the industrial economy of the area, said: “We are working to put in place first and foremost tools of a general nature, I am thinking of the single special economic zone, the opportunities of the Pnrr and the revision interventions on the European Cohesion policy front . Brindisi certainly deserves particular attention from the government due to its history from an industrial and entrepreneurial point of view”. The Minister for European Affairs, Cohesion Policies and the PNRR, Raffaele Fitto, said this in Brindisi during an electoral appointment in view of the European elections, responding to a question from journalists on the possibility of signing a ‘Program Agreement ‘ for the same city in light of a series of industrial employment disputes. “We will make a comparison both at an institutional level but also – added the minister – in the context of the opportunities that can be created in the reconversion process. This morning I was at Cetma where we thought a lot about the opportunities to support our production system in terms of innovation and research”. According to Fitto “we need to put in place tools capable of giving this type of response”. Participating in the institutional greetings were Roberto Morabito, President of CETMA, Michele Emiliano, President of the Puglia Region, Toni Matarrelli, President of the Province of Brindisi and Giuseppe Marchionna, Mayor of Brindisi.

From the CONNET General Directorate, Álvaro Hernando Hernando, Project Officer of Digital Transformation of Industrial Ecosystems Unit, will present the Digital Europe Programme, which gave birth to the EDIH CETMA DIHSME. From Europe, we moved on to the specific Italian context with “The strategy to support the digital transition” illustrated by the speech by Raffaele Spallone of MIMIT – General Directorate for industrial policy, innovation and small and medium-sized enterprises.
