Stefano Savi, defense lawyer of the president of the Liguira Region, Giovanni Toti, filed a request with the magistrate to consent to some political meetings between his client, who has been under house arrest in Ameglia for forty days, and political representatives of his regional majority, after an initial conversation already held in recent weeks with the regional councilor Giacomo Giampedrone . The Dire agency reports it.
«We will ask – explained Savi – to meet various people who are linked to Toti’s political world. They will be people chosen according to the various roles they play, so as to be able to reconstruct a current picture of the situation, we let the magistrate decide, even if for the people linked to the territory we hope that they can be in person. However, everything is fine with us.”
Savi did not name names, but confirmed that we will start with local leaders. Only people with a political or collaborative role within his group, however non-administrative, were chosen. And not people who have anything to do with the investigation.
The lawyer, Dire specifies, excludes the possibility of a request to meet the Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni: «Not for now, but in any case I don’t think so. These are local political exponents, also taking into account that he has a national role with Us Moderates and therefore it may be necessary to also hear from some exponents of that political group”. Among the names, therefore, there could be those of Maurizio Lupi, national leader of Noi Moderati, and the acting president of the Region, Alessandro Piana, in the League. Then, certainly, prominent exponents of the majority of him chosen from Lista Toti, Fratelli d’Italia and Forza Italia. THEIn any case, the lawyer reiterates once again, “the topic of resignation will absolutely not be on the meeting table. This is an information round that we believe is necessary because Toti has a political role, he has had a mandate and it is a duty for him to keep himself informed so as to be able to take on any type of initiative in the future.”
