5G antenna, the Municipality stops it – Teramo

TERAMO. Yesterday afternoon the mayor Gianguido D’Albertotogether with the competent councilor Valdo Di Bonaventura and to the councillor Pina Ciammariconimet with the Putignano hamlet committee, representing the residents of the hamlet who in recent days had requested intervention from the administration regarding the installation work of a 5G antenna.
The administration, after some in-depth analysis of the activities carried out by the offices, already on Friday issued a specific provision for the suspension of the works, having noted the absence, at present, of the seismic authorization requested by the telecommunications company but not still released by the Region, and asked the offices for further details.
«As soon as the citizens were interested in the matter, we asked the offices for a report and an in-depth analysis on the issue», explained the mayor during the meeting with the committee, «and following an initial check which revealed that the company had not yet having obtained the seismic authorization we immediately ordered the suspension of the works. We also asked the offices to carry out further investigations, also in relation to further authorisations, and we expressed the administration’s full attention to the residents. This is in the awareness, on everyone’s part, that we are faced with exclusively administrative procedures and that, should all the authorizations be present or issued, the Municipalities, faced with the current national legislation and consolidated jurisprudence, are not in a position to be able prevent the installation of antennas. We assured residents that, as already done in other situations, we will adopt every action that guarantees the protection of citizens and the mitigation of urban-environmental effects, in addition to possible political-administrative compensation activities. We thank the community of residents, with whom we have started a collaborative process not only for the current situation but also for other issues affecting the hamlet.”
