Siciliacque, manganese overflow: non-food water for 9 municipalities in the Nisseno area – il Fatto Nisseno

the overflow supplier Siciliacque has communicated that due to the limited capacity of the Fanaco reservoir, now reduced to a few hundred thousand m3, a deterioration in the qualitative characteristics of the raw water is being recorded, with particular reference to the concentration of manganese. Although the technicians have proceeded to strengthen the ordinary treatment actions, the water leaving the Fanaco continues to show – only for the manganese parameter – values outside the threshold. Considering that in the scenario of a very severe water crisis underway, the waters of the Fanaco constitute the only resource available at the service of the municipalities of Acquaviva Platani,

Bompensiere, Campofranco, Delia, Milena, Montedoro, Mussomeli, Sommatino and Sutera, the supplier has communicated that it will continue the treatments while asking the health authorities and municipal administrations involved to adopt the measures that will be deemed most suitable, especially in relation to the non drinkability of the water supplied. Caltaqua – Acque di Caltanissetta SpA, manager of the integrated water service, will therefore continue to distribute water in the territories of Acquaviva Platani, Bompensiere, Campofranco, Delia, Milena, Montedoro, Mussomeli, Sommatino and Sutera which, until new provisions from the relevant authorities, It may NOT be used for food purposes. Caltaqua will promptly provide any further useful updates as they become available.
