Ragusa farmers. Appeal to the Mayors on debt moratorium

The spontaneous movement of Iblean farmers, breeders, producers and consumers makes an urgent appeal to all the mayors of the Sicilian municipalities to take action, in concert with the regional and national deputies, to enforce what was promised on several occasions and in all the offices of the various meetings held, in reference to the debt moratorium (suspension pending a Saccomandi bis, scrapping, installment of debts not included in the scrapping, CRIAS loans, IRCAC loans, payment of CD, OTD and OTI contributions… etc…).
This is considered essential, as it is a priority to guarantee the immediate and necessary liquidity for companies in the sector to be able to cover the purchase of fodder, diesel and electricity, for the survival of livestock and the cultivation of cereals, vegetables and plants. arboreal, otherwise it would be impossible to cover the costs with promises alone.
We therefore invite representatives of Ragusa and Sicilian politics, all Ragusa farmers, breeders, producers and consumers to participate in the meeting which will be held next Friday 24 May at 7.30 pm at the headquarters of the economic development department, in via Corrado Di Four in Ragusa. In this regard, we thank the Councilor for Economic Development of the Municipality of Ragusa, Giorgio Massari, for promoting this important event.
However, it is not possible to understand the world in which the professional agricultural organizations have lived until now, first of all COLDIRETTI, which, after 5 months of protest by the producers, claiming that the problem of the debt moratorium had been brilliantly resolved by the central government , after the pressing requests of the members and producers, with a “solidarity initiative”, which in our opinion is fake due to the ridiculous quantities (a few kilograms of hay for each head of cattle and sheep), instead limited itself to donating to the farmers , together with Italian Agricultural Consortiums, BF Bonifiche Ferraresi, Italian Breeders’ Association and Fedama – Federation of National Breed Associations, a handout that offends the dignity of members and others.
Furthermore, COLDIRETTI, in a bipolar madness, organizes a protest demonstration in Palermo on May 28th and it is not really clear to what end, as no member, to date, despite receiving the invitation to join the demonstration, does not has yet to receive any communication regarding the claim platform.
A truth operation is urgently needed and it is the farmers of Ragusa who are acting as the megaphone.
If the Sicilian regional government had fulfilled its duty, preventing the water crisis in time, then taking measures promptly and economically in an adequate manner, today, our Sicilian colleagues would not have to accept handouts from those who have demonstrated in recent years that they do not having represented the interests of the members, not having known them and wanted to represent them seriously in the institutional settings and in the economic games that this Italy which is changing its face, aiming to transform itself into an energy hub within the European Union, sacrificing on the altar of the energy transition, Sicilian agriculture, if not even the entire national agri-food sector.
While for almost 5 months there have been demonstrations and protests throughout the island with permanent garrisons and tractor processions, desperate and furious but peaceful, the Sicilian Government does not impose itself on Rome in defense of the Sicilians, it takes home the small change and leaves room for a national government that allocates billions of euros to invest in North Africa, encouraging elsewhere what it has failed to protect and enhance at home.
Adding insult to injury!
A State that does not defend the investments of its companies, its businesses, is a State destined to disappear.
All the mayors and regional parliamentarians are currently engaged in the electoral campaign for the European elections (according to them, the cause of all our ills).
Everyone presents their own candidate at the European elections but none of these really and concretely declare what they will do, once elected, in support of agriculture and against the lobbies present at European level.
Therefore, as producers or individual consumer citizens, we ask ourselves by what criteria it is possible to choose which candidate to vote for given that within the parties everything is said and done and at the same time the opposite of everything.
In our opinion, this electoral commitment and the related final result is only and exclusively a test of strength between political parties and not a political decision-making choice to send one or more representatives of the people to the European Parliament to defend the true interests of small businesses.
The debt moratorium must be the fixed focus of all mayors, regional and national parliamentarians if they want to continue to represent our territories politically and with dignity and not end up like the regional councilor for agriculture Sammartino who will remain in our memory for having declared during an institutional meeting held in ARS with the producers present that in the morning when they get up they should not think about productions but rather about submitting “applications” through the right technicians.
