The court of Foggia, with an abbreviated procedure, discounting one third of the sentence, sentenced him to 5 years in prison Elia Fatone43 years old known as “Elia Racastill”, 4 years and 8 months old Pasquale Murgo47 years old alias “Mickey Mouse”, 2 years and 8 months old Michele Calderara28 years old, 3 years old Matteo Colafrancesco45 years and 2 years and 8 months ad Annapia Castigliego, 39 year old wife of Fatone. All defendants from Manfredonia with the exception of Calderara, originally from Negrar in the province of Verona. Generic mitigating circumstances not recognized except for Castigliego. The defense team (lawyers Starace, d’Ascanio, Pirro, Imperadore) will appeal.
The prosecution had made significantly higher requests: 7 years and 6 months for Murgo, 6 years for Fatone, 3 years and 4 months for Castigliego, 7 years and 4 months for Colafrancesco and 3 years and 4 months for Calderara.
The five were arrested by the Guardia di Finanza, on the orders of the Foggia Prosecutor’s Office, last January 12 on charges of trafficking large quantities of drugs with Northern Italy, starting from a logistics base in Manfredonia.
The narcotic was called “Gorilla”, “Ferrari” or “Porsche” depending on the different qualities characterized by the images imprinted on the loaves. In June 2023, a courier was arrested in flagrante delicto during a checkpoint on the Gargano state road, while transporting 25 kilos of hashish from Manfredonia. During the investigations, over 43 kilos of “smoke” were seized, corresponding to approximately 500 thousand doses.
