The new dragon symbol of Terni has been inaugurated. Bandecchi: “we created a project that was in a drawer, it will be talked about all over the world”

The new Thyrus, symbol of a city that looks to the future, was officially inaugurated this evening in Terni.

“It will be talked about all over the world – said the mayor Stefano Bandecchi – it is a beautiful work even if everyone can talk about it as they want, someone will say they don’t like it, someone will say they like it, someone will say it is in the future, some will say that it could have been done better. You can’t do things that everyone likes, I’m also a handsome man but not everyone likes me. We have created a project that was locked in a drawer – added the mayor – we make dreams come true”.

“The municipality of Terni – specified the vice mayor Riccardo Corridore – contributed 20 thousand euros and supported a whole series of sponsorships”.

The steel Thyrus was conceived by Professor Marco Diamanti, designed by the designer Jacopo Cardinali and created by the builder Luca Finistauri.

“The Thyrus was born from an intuition of Marco Diamanti – said Cardinali – who one day came to me and told me that this city lacks a symbol, or rather it has the symbol but we don’t see it realized and concretized nowhere. Let’s make a dragon. All the technical translations were then created to ensure that this project could be realized 100% in this city. A gift from the city to the city.”

“Dealing with the transposition of this wonderful 3D model created by Marco and Jacopo was a dream for me – said Luca Finistauri – it was wonderful to be able to work thanks to the help of all the people who believed in this beautiful idea and they helped us to make it happen, otherwise it would have been impossible. I hope – Finistauri continued – that it can soon become a symbol of identity for this city to which we are truly grateful for having supported us”.

Before the ribbon-cutting ceremony, the sports clubs that have the dragon as a symbol on their shirts and a historical procession led by the Cesi band, with the musicians of Torreorsina and the flag-wavers of San Gemini had paraded through the streets of the centre.

Two planes left red-green trails in the sky.

It had to be a party and it was a party. A big party.
