In Ispica Paolo Monaca involves other councilors for the Iblea Acque issue, in Ragusa Buscemi and Distefano di Sud calls Nord remain indifferent for the same problems, as if they lived on another planet

In Ispica, the municipal councilor Paolo Monaca, provincial coordinator of the South calls North, involves other fellow councilors and asks for a convocation of the civic assembly to discuss, mainly, the thorny issue of Iblea Acque, as well as public order and use of the premises of the former Market.
Ispicese Rebirth and Cambiamo Really Ispica, both federated in the South Calls North, and the Democratic Party wish to delve deeper into the increasingly convoluted and complicated aspects of the Iblea Acque affair.
On Iblea Acque, the public company that manages the integrated water service in Ispica, the councilors note that, one year after the start, the relations between the municipality and the company are already conflictual, given the dispute for the recovery of a sum of over two million euros for electricity consumption invoiced to the Municipality of Ispica but relating to the period April/December 2023, when the service had already been taken over by Iblea Acque. It is worrying that this sum, which is also subject to increase, given that the company has not carried out the transfers of electricity supplies, constitutes damage to the treasury.
In an interview with a local broadcaster, Monaca explained how one year after the start of the in-house company there were “unfair commercial practices, enormous inconveniences for new connections or for the maintenance of the systems, crazy bills, a non-existent call centre, without say about the fiscal damage that all the Iblean municipalities are suffering: to stay in Ispica, Iblea Acque has already created a hole of over two million euros, not to mention the investments promised and not kept.“

Paolo Monaca’s attention therefore shows no sign of stopping on the delicate issue of Iblea Acque, which does not dwell on other unresolved issues, such as those raised in Ragusa by councilor Gaetano Mauro, for example on the procedures for competitions, of which, as yet, nothing is known, while the irregularly hired staff continue to stay in their jobs as if nothing had happened.

If Ispica cries, for the same reasons Ragusa does not laugh, but in Ragusa there is something to laugh about, and a lot, because we find a municipal councilor from the South calling for the North, Saverio Buscemi, and Andrea Di Stefano, the councilor for the districts and hamlets , who are also directly interested in ‘water’ issues for the distribution of the precious liquid with tankers, completely indifferent to the same issues for which, for a long time, party comrade Monaca has been agitating, involving colleagues from the municipal council of Ispica and other citizen assemblies.
Buscemi and Di Stefano, members of the majority that supports the Cassì administration, present in the palace council of L’Aquila, have never opened their mouths on the delicate issues of Iblea Acque, which are even more pressing in the capital than in Ispica, since the exposure of the Municipality of Ragusa, towards Iblea Acque amounts to almost ten million euros.

At this point one wonders why Buscemi and Di Stefano did not share Councilor Mauro’s findings and did not take steps to ask their mayor for transparency and clarifications on the delicate issues on the agenda.
It is reasonable to think that the policies of South calls North are different from municipality to municipality, or that the two Deluch supporters of Ragusa prefer to remain silent so as not to go against the mayor Cassì, President of the Analogous Control Committee of Iblea Acque, thinking of keeping the councilor’s seat and that in majority coalition.
Of course, there is more to cry than to laugh, the provincial coordinator of the South would do well to call the North, not to mention the regional leaders of the party, to ask and clarify things for the benefit of the image of the party which, in these conditions, raises many doubts.
