The former Taranto striker spoke to GiornaleRossoblù.it Riccardo Innocenti he spoke about the rossoblù season that has just ended and the prospects for the Apulian club. Here are his statements:

On Taranto’s season: ”After so many years, Taranto had a season above all expectations, bringing people back to the stadium. Maybe he deserved a little more from his luck, but he still had an extraordinary season. Credit must be given to the club and above all to the coach for having created such a solid group, without too many individualities, but with a precise identity that the fans really liked, regardless of the final epilogue.”

On the coach and the future: ”If the coach is convinced that he can do even better, also based on what the club makes available to him and I don’t mean a bigger budget, but also shared ideas, he must start again from Capuano. If, for reasons of stimuli, cycle or any other kind, the coach is not so convinced, he must start again with another person because motivations are everything. Capuano had an extraordinary season. When you get to play Serie B up to where Taranto has reached, you have to sit down and see if there are the conditions to improve the team and last year’s result. It doesn’t necessarily mean going to Serie B, but at least playing for something until the end, as was the case this year.”

On Taranto’s attackers:”I like Simeri as a player; he did quite well. I think Kanoute is a player to keep. Fabbro is a potentially good striker. Up front, in my opinion, he needs a player who can shift the balance, who wins matches on his own, a point of reference. If Taranto wants to make a difference, they must buy a player like this”

On the rossoblù fans: ”Two days ago I met, here in Ravenna, a fan from Taranto who remembered the first match we played in the Italian Cup against Cosenza. We lost 3-1 and there were 10-15 thousand people. Scoring under the North gives you an adrenaline that other squares don’t give you. It’s one of those few places in the south that deserves more than just Serie B.”
