A new earthquake has shaken Pozzuolias part of an ongoing seismic sequence in Phlegraean Fields. The Vesuvian Observatory has communicated to the Municipal Administration of Pozzuoli “that starting from local time 06:06 on 18/05/2024 (UTC 04:06 on 18/05/2024) a sequence of seismic events is underway in the area of Phlegraean Fields. At the time of issue of this press release, 4 earthquakes with magnitude Md ≥ 0 and maximum magnitude Md=3.7±0.3 had been preliminarily detected
Below is the list of localized events with magnitude Md ≥ 1“.
In consideration of the above, the Municipal Administration together with the Civil Protection of the municipality of Pozzuoli is closely following the evolution of the ongoing seismic sequence and will provide subsequent updates until the conclusion of the phenomenon“.

Since 06:06, as reported by the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology, a seismic swarm has been underway in the Campi Flegrei area, with the major event of magnitude 3.7 recorded at 06:30“: this is what the Civil Protection communicated in a note. “Following the event, the Italian Situation Room of the Civil Protection Department got in touch with the local structures of the National Civil Protection Service.
The shock was felt by the population but from initial checks NO damage has been reported so far“.
