Word of the Comibleo, the spontaneous committee of residents of the ancient city of Ragusa, which once again focuses attention on what is happening in Piazza della Repubblica. “A difficult situation to say the least – explains the committee – considering that all excess waste becomes easy prey for stray animals who then scatter it everywhere. But, as if that were not enough, the stench that emanates from these containers, incapable of containing the amount of rubbish disposed of, has nothing to do with the suggestion of the baroque palaces that surround the site. We always ask ourselves: is it possible that we can’t find a solution? It would be enough to place a few additional tubs. And instead, we persist in continuing along a direction which, as we have already seen in recent years, does not lead to anything positive. We hope that something, however, can change and that, limited to this inconvenience, everything can fall within the canons expected from a site that hosts a UNESCO area”.
