Ferrari, the two days of Pirelli testing with Leclerc and Sainz concluded at Mugello

Ferrari on track with Pirelli. The two days of testing that saw the Cavallino drivers came to an end, Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz, take turns driving the 2024 single-seater on the Mugello circuit. The tests are part of the compound and construction development program organized by Pirelli in view of the 2025 season. This is the fifth session of 2024, the second consecutive in which Ferrari takes part after the one held on the Paul Ricard circuit in France. The main objective of the work carried out by Pirelli was to reduce tire overheating, especially considering the characteristics of the Tuscan circuit.

“I want to thank Scuderia Ferrari once again for their collaboration in this test – he commented Mario Island, director of Pirelli Motorsport – we are in a very intense phase of the season and having supported us again with the presence of the two starting drivers represents an important commitment. For us they were two very profitable days on a beautiful track like Mugello, a very testing test bed for the tyres, given its configuration full of fast and long corners, the ideal scenario for experimenting with harder compound solutions.” .

In addition to the Italian manufacturer, the tests were also useful for Ferrari, fresh from the disappointing Canadian trip which ended with a double retirement. The Mugello circuit has, in fact, similar characteristics to Montmelò, the venue which will host the Spanish GP, the next stage of the Formula 1 world championship. The long-distance curves combined with some guided variants and the long straight of the circuit owned by the Cavallino have thus represented the opportunity to prepare for the Spanish trip as well as to regain some of the enthusiasm lost after the Montreal debacle. Alongside the two starters, Leclerc and Sainz, a 2022 single-seater also took to the track, the F1-75, entrusted to the young Oliver Bearman. The English talent is continuing with his simulator training program to contribute to the development of the SF-24 and will take part in the first free practice session behind the wheel of the Haas in Spain. Ollie has already driven the VF-24 at Imola and will also be on track at Silverstone, Budapest, Mexico and Abu Dhabi. General tests in view of a 2025 which, as it seems, will see him on the track as a starter driving the Ferrari-powered single-seater.
