A telephone booth to talk to the deceased

There are those who love tourist trips and those who prefer to get lost in it unusual places. If you are in Lazio, you can easily visit the most unusual places in Rome. If, however, you are in another region, which we will reveal to you shortly, you can discover a very particular installation, which has moved many. We are talking about a telephone booth designed to talk to the deceased. The idea was Marco Vanni, a photographer and also artistic director of the Life for Music association.

In reality, the photographer was inspired by an initiative Japanese which arose in 2010, when designer Itaru Sasaki built the wind phone. The installation took place inside his garden with the aim of putting him in contact with his deceased cousin. The idea of him began to spread when a tsunami caused the loss of thousands of people’s lives, leaving their families in total despair. The design then thought of alleviating their pain by making them still feel close to the deceased.

Here’s where it is

Precisely for this reason, this initiative has expanded from Japan to other countries and cities such as California, Dublin, Colorado, Washington, North Carolina and many others. And now the telephone booth for talking to the deceased has also arrived in Italy, in collaboration with the Podere Tegolaja agricultural company. The region where the cabin was installed is Tuscany and the city is precisely Pisa.

There are no cables or other connections nor is there any need to insert telephone cards or coins: the installation is symbolic and has the aim of allowing the family members of a deceased person to leave him a symbolic message which will then be delivered to them by the wind. If you want to visit this splendid telephone booth, you have to get to San Pietro Belvedere, in the municipality of Capannoli. There, in the middle of the green countryside, you will come across a telephone booth in which you can vent and feel free to give space to the emotions you have inside. There are also those who use the cabin to meditate, relax and try to reconnect with themselves.
