Between Monday 3 June and Sunday 16 June, the transfer of the activities of the ophthalmology operational unit will take place, which will leave the Community House of Castel San Pietro Terme to definitively arrive at the Santa Maria della Scaletta hospital in Imola. «A transfer that has been planned for some time – explains a note from the Imola Local Health Authority – which will allow the ophthalmology department to increase its outpatient and surgical production, thanks to a greater provision of space and dedicated staff, and at the same time will free up spaces at the Casa della Community of Castel San Pietro Terme, which by the summer will see the start of the renovation works on the fourth floor, for the construction of the further new floor of the Community Hospital, with 15 beds, for a total of 36 beds dedicated to intermediate care (21 on the first floor), in addition to the 12 Hospice”.

In Castel San Pietro, a new emergency exit ramp will also be built on the mezzanine floor and the new fire-fighting lift will be installed. The works at the Castel San Pietro Community House are financed by Pnrr funds for a value of 2,237,084.51 euros. At the Castel San Pietro Community House, eye examinations will continue to be provided by the local eye clinic, always upon Cup reservation.

To allow the transfer, explains the health company, «between 3 and 16 June the scheduled activities of the ophthalmology operational unit are suspended, without prejudice to all emergencies, both outpatient and surgical, and post-operative checks for operations carried out before the suspension, which will be guaranteed in Imola throughout the entire period. There will therefore be no inconvenience for citizens.”

From 17 June the eye clinics will resume their activity on the first floor of the new hospital in Imola in a dedicated area which features 2 reception stations, a secretarial office, 4 clinics, an emergency clinic and 2 reception rooms equipped of 5 beds each for pre- and post-surgical hospitalization. «The eye surgery activity will take place mainly, but not exclusively, in a dedicated day surgery room, with an adjoining room for recovering patients, located inside the operating block and recently built with an investment of over 100 thousand euros while small outpatient operations will be carried out at the surgical clinic of Poliambulatori C”. The new ophthalmology area will be officially inaugurated in July.
