TERAMO. The mayor’s consultations began yesterday Gianguido D’Alberto aimed at defining the new structures within the council. As is known, the election to the regional council of Giovanni Cavallari has left the public works department empty which will therefore have to be allocated to a new figure. In pole position is the name of the group leader in the PD city council Marco Di Marcantonio: near the area of the Dem regional councilor in his second term Sandro Mariani, would be the one who could take up Cavallari’s legacy to carry forward a challenging and complex department. Probably, in light of the historical moment that the city is experiencing on the public works front with some related difficulties on some construction sites, even the most significant. The possible appointment of Di Marcantonio would bring former PD councilor Martina Maranella back to the city council, before the non-elected ones.

The mayor, however, has other issues to resolve. Nodes that suggest the possibility of a larger reshuffle. In fact, there is the theme of relationships and balances with the political forces inside and outside the city council: the results of the regional elections saw the Democratic Party bring significant results in the province of Teramo. Alongside this is the situation of the green councilor Valdo Di Bonaventura: candidate on the Action list in the regional elections, received two thousand preferences but missed the election. His candidacy was never viewed favorably by a large part of the majority in the city council, seen in antithesis to that of Cavallari, strongly supported by D’Alberto, and not very coherent with the internal structure. In fact, the Action party is in opposition in the city council. Di Bonaventura’s group, Teramo Vive, has suffered a clear repercussion in terms of cohesion from this situation and the councilor has appeared increasingly isolated for weeks. D’Alberto could thus choose to replace him with a councilor from Bella Teramo (Cavallari’s group), who already expresses the councilor Alessandra Ferrior of Teramo Vive itself.
Ciammariconi at risk
Finally, the front of the Five Star Movement: the regional results were not those hoped for and this, also thanks to internal pressure from groups closest to the mayor, could cost the department a Pina Ciammariconi in favor of an exponent of “Together We Can” the civic of D’Alberto. Last night the mayor started consultations with group leaders and party delegations. The new council structure should be communicated within a couple of weeks.
