Arnad: the restoration of the Machaby Sanctuary presented

Sunday 5 May 2024, the completion of the first phase of the restoration work, which began in 2021 and concluded in 2023, was inaugurated at the Sanctuary of Notre-Dame aux Neiges in Machaby of Arnad.

The works concerned both the architectural structure and the decorative elements of the sanctuary. The renovation and consolidation of the roofs were carried out, the restoration of the internal and external plaster of the perimeter walls, the restoration of the stone materials (columns, frames, pulpit, etc.), the consolidation of the external wall of the Mysteries of the Rosary and the restoration of the facade with ancient eighteenth-century paintings.

Additional works were also carried out, including the arrangement of the shelter for pilgrims and the creation of toilets for people with disabilities.

The funds for the construction of the second lot (39,500 euros) have already been raised and the work has begun.

A large number of people celebrated at the event, not only from the Arnad community but from all over the Aosta Valley, a tangible sign of the attention paid to this Marian sanctuary.
