In view of the next administrative elections which will be held in Perugia on 8 and 9 June, the Union of Women in Italy has organized a discussion on the condition of women in the city on Monday 6 May at 5pm, at the Teatro di Figura di Perugia, which is attended by all the male and female candidates were invited. In addition to the speeches of the candidates for mayor, candidates from the list will also be present.
«We have developed a document – say the women of Udi – with concrete proposals that we will ask the candidates to sign and at the same time we will ask them to represent the actions contained in their electoral programs on the identified themes. We are really happy that our proposal for discussion was received with such enthusiasm and that there is a real desire for participation on the part of the entire political class, not just those running for mayor.” The initiative aims to «make politics an instrument to improve the living conditions of women in our city, we believe that only politically can we build a better future, a future that we imagine today as free», say the organizers.
The meeting on Monday 6 May will focus on four macro areas of interest, starting from gender violence, the situation of the anti-violence centers in Perugia and the condition of migrant women who live in the city, as well as the birth of the centers for abusive men. We will then talk about sexual and reproductive health, training on combating gender violence and work. These and many other reflections from the candidates will enrich the debate, together with eight concrete proposals that “we ask those who will manage our city to put on the agenda”.
