Taranto, night cleaning returns from June to September

TARANTO – Municipality, we are moving towards the return of sidewalk cleaning and night-time street sweeping by Amiu vehicles. From what appears to JournalFor a couple of weeks now, the municipal administration led by Rinaldo Melucci and in particular the Department of the Environment (counsellor Stefania Fornaro, manager Mariella De Florio) have asked Kyma Ambiente to resume these services. Which, due to lack of financial resources, were suspended just over a year ago. Now, however, the necessary monthly sums (around 50-60 thousand euros) to carry out these activities would have been recovered. Furthermore, from what we learn, the cleaning of the pavements and the night-time mechanical sweeping of the streets would not be carried out for the entire year, but only for the summer period. And, therefore, presumably, from the second half of June until the end of September. The official approval should be sanctioned by a council resolution over the next week.

Moreover, in the last period, informally, several majority city councilors would have pointed out the urgency of a similar intervention, especially due to the bad smell that, in some areas of the city, comes from the sidewalks. For this reason, therefore, we need to act but above all because of the approach of the next summer season which could accentuate the phenomenon due to the high temperatures. And, finally, we must consider the fact that between June and September, in Taranto, a large number of tourists concentrate who, evidently, need to be presented with a business card in which urban decorum and hygiene are of the highest level. possible satisfactory.

Speaking of urban decoration, just yesterday morning the former Amiu or Kyma Ambiente announced the activation of a new service. In fact, the “KymaVan” will be active starting from Monday 27 May from 7.30 to 11.30. In particular, it is a traveling collection to deliver bulky items (sofas, furniture, mattresses and more) and pruning clippings. As far as bulky items are concerned, it will be possible to do so on Monday in Piazza Ebalia, on Wednesday in Corso Italia near Bar Blanco and on Friday near PalaMazzola. The pruning clippings, however, can be delivered on Tuesdays in via Anello di San Cataldo, on Thursdays in via Sciabelle and on Saturdays near the Tennis Club in via Consiglio.

«In this way – explains the president of Kyma Ambiente, Giampiero Mancarelli – we will enhance the collection of bulky waste which, unfortunately, represents a serious problem for our territory. The same reasoning – adds Mancarelli – must be done for pruning cuttings. With KymaVan, a traveling collection service, we try to get ever closer to citizens and encourage them to dispose of waste correctly.” Furthermore, the Environment Councilor, Stefania Fornaro, is of the same opinion. You that, in a joint press note, you state: «With initiatives of this type, we intervene directly in the area and spread the culture of separate waste collection. In fact, during these days, we will also have a gazebo available that will provide information to citizens.”
