WATCH THE VIDEO SERVICE. Incomes are growing in Friuli Venezia Giulia. This is according to the latest investigation by Ires Fvg which reprocessed the Irpef tax returns presented in 2023 by approximately 930 thousand residents in the region. The average overall income last year was 24,568 euros, a thousand more than in 2022. A difference, explained researcher Alessandro Russo, mostly linked to the socio-personal data variables of the taxpayers, among which several gaps emerge.

At a territorial level, the province of Trieste has the highest average overall income (almost 26,000 euros); followed by Pordenone, Udine and Gorizia.

Women, on average, have a total income that is more than 10,200 euros lower than that of men, i.e. 34.7% less income. A slightly smaller gap compared to recent years, but which underlines how female participation in the labor market is lower and mostly linked to part-time jobs; Furthermore, women’s access to top positions is decidedly more difficult.

Another very pronounced gap is that relating to age. Taxpayers in the range between 45 and 64 years record the highest overall average income (around 29 thousand euros), decidedly higher than that of the over 65s, under 24,000 euros, and that of the under 44s who receive just over 21 thousand EUR. Furthermore, only 4% of under 25s declare incomes with an average of 8,000 euros per year.

In Fvg we can also highlight the greater contribution to the net Irpef tax by people born abroad, equal to 8.8% of the total, compared to a national average of 5.8%. Over 142,000 taxpayers in our region (equal to 15.3%) were born abroad and declare an average of 17,753 euros, 8,000 less than those born in Italy. These data essentially reflect the condition of immigrant citizens, among which stand out taxpayers arriving from Kosovo (19,048 euros), Albania (18,799 euros), Bosnia-Herzegovina, India (16,271 euros), Ghana (15,857) and from Morocco (15,797).
