On 29 and 30 June, a sporting event at the PalaPanini, alongside a discussion on sustainable development

From June 29th to June 30th, the 5th GRAN PRIX MODENA BADMINTON power by YOUNG will take place at the PalaPanini. The event, now in its fifth edition, offers national level competitions in this discipline and includes the participation of athletes (from under 9s to masters) as well as para-athletes, coming from all Italian regions, confirming a now widespread reputation throughout the National territory.
In addition to the sporting objective, as usual, there is also another important objective: to contribute to the construction of a sustainable future for the Planet through the valorization of correct behaviors aimed at spreading the concepts of circular economy. In this context, the Italian Badminton Federation granted the use of the “sustainable event” logo to the Modena event which formalized an important commitment in compliance with the requirements set out in the federal guidelines issued with the support of the Badminton World Federation (BWF) .
The organizers of the ASD Modena Badminton have also concluded an important collaboration with the Hera Group, one of the main Italian multi-utilities and Erion WEEE and Erion Energy, the Consortia of the Erion System dedicated, respectively, to the management of Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) and Battery Waste (RB). Among the various initiatives that see sport as an activator of the UN 2030 Agenda on sustainable development, several activities are planned aimed at raising awareness among players and supporters of the Badminton world “on the importance and need to increase the recovery and recycling of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) and spent batteries to “achieve” the complete development of a circular and sustainable economy at an international level”. Furthermore, it is worth mentioning a lottery in which, thanks to the collaboration with the HERA Group, all stakeholders will be able to participate by providing, on Saturday 29 June, small WEEE (such as telephones, cables, small household appliances, computer keyboards, battery chargers ) and batteries directly, in the stand set up at the PalaPanini plant with special containers provided by the multiutility, which will also take care of their emptying and weighing of the WEEE collected. Based on the number of correctly delivered waste, tickets will be given to participate in the prize draw. During the “Grand prix” will also take place a round table, scheduled for 11am on Saturday 29 June, dedicated to the themes of sustainable development through sporting events. Speakers at this important cultural event will include the president of the Italian Badminton Federation Carlo Beninati, the president of the ASD Modena Badminton Marco Tarabusi, the head of the Sports and Youth Office of the Municipality of Modena Giovanna Rondinone, the General Director of Erion WEEE Giorgio Arienti, the head of communications UISP Modena Alessandro Trebbi, Luca Sitta of the Modena Area Environmental Services Directorate of the Hera Group, the general secretary of the Italian Badminton Federation Giovanni Esposito, and the president of the
European Badminton Confederation Sven Serrè.
