Among the guests of the morning, the former General Director of Carrarese Gianluca Bertiwho spoke about these now imminent playoffs: “The position achieved in the championship helps, but it is not a given that the team that appears to be the strongest on paper is the one that wins the playoffs. In any case, for me, the team the one to beat is Vicenza, who had a great second round: of course, they should have won the championship hands down, but with the arrival of Vecchi they recovered.”
Speaking more generally about Serie C: “This category is growing because it is a hotbed of young people, who are needed by Italy. We need to give more prominence to these kids: many times we go to get foreigners, but there are many young Italians who they deserve other stages. I’m thinking of Biasci, who I signed in Carrara and is now having an excellent championship in Serie B with Catanzaro: you have to take risks and have a bit of scouting. I understand that it costs, but if you go and get 2-3 young players strong Serie D players are added values and also bring capital gains.”
In conclusion, a note to the Apuan team: “Carrarese had a great championship, even if they finished a long way behind Cesena. They are the best third in all the groups, they have important values and could cause problems. They have all the characteristics to be the surprise.”
