Young academics first in the Verona – Chieti Competition

ORTONA. The Orchestra “The young academics of Ortona” (Oiga) also hits the mark in Verona. At the “Laszlo Spezzaferri International Competition”, in the auditorium of the Palazzo del Gran Guardia, in front of the Arena, the ensemble obtained the first prize and the mention as “Best orchestra of the competition” which allowed the young musicians to perform at the opening of the awards concert. It is yet another achievement for Oiga, after only two years ago it achieved the gold medal at the Youth International Musci Festival in Bratislava. Oiga won the award by performing Tango pour Claude by R. Galliano and Oregon by J. De Hann, in the maestro’s arrangements Paul Angelucci. «It is a prestigious result, which gives us confidence», says Angelucci, «we brought 52 kids, but the members are almost 60 also coming from Marche and Molise. The result is even more significant if we consider the average age of the members. The Oiga is the training sector of the Tosti Symphony Orchestra (Ost) and these young people will be responsible for closing the Ost concert season with the Spring Gala which will be held on Sunday 19 May at 5.30pm at the Tosti in Ortona” (tickets on CiaoTickets).
