SAN DEMETRIO NE’ VESTINI – Thirty years ago the cultural association Arti e Spettacolo was born, and this year there are many events to celebrate and share this journey. There were five of them who started the journey, Giancarlo Gentilucci, Tiziana Irti, Paolo Tella, Antonietta Centofanti And Carla Mastropietro.
“It is also a story made up of meetings with the local population, with cultural operators – explains the artistic director Giancarlo Gentilucci – we constantly collaborate with some Italian theater schools which allow their best talents to compete with real work, right in our headquarters , with artistic residencies and staging of their creations. Over the years we have preserved a heritage, including documentation, which has become, with very long and demanding work, an archive that we can now share. We will remember these thirty years with various events and we would also like to remember Antonietta and Carla, who were two precious traveling companions, for their intelligence and their social commitment. Furthermore, we intend to reason and reflect on how culture can be a stimulus and one of the engines for the recovery and revitalization of small places”.
“The first appointment was the debut, at the opening of the 16th edition of the Strade festival, of our latest production ‘I Giganti e Noi’, which is the artistic result of the work carried out in recent years with some of the people who, following our courses , they became passionate about theatre.”
“The next appointment of the thirty-year anniversary is the new show of Cesar Brie ‘King Lear died in Moscow’ which we will present on 20 and 21 April at the Nobel Peace Space, in San Demetrio Ne’ Vestini”.
“We have known César since the end of the eighties – continues Gentilucci – and we have collaborated with him since the days of his theater in Bolivia, from the first productions with the Teatro de Los Andes company. Since then he has always been a guest of our theater with his shows and artistic residencies. We invited him to return to our space in San Demetrio ne’ Vestini with this new show of his, a work created with 8 actors who, after two seminars at the Scuola Galante Garrone in Bologna, chose to follow him in this production. It is a choral show of great power. The two repeat performances we planned were sold out immediately, with spectators coming from all over the region.”
“The stages of our thirty-year anniversary – concludes Gentilucci – become an opportunity to meet other people and other realities, to cross-contaminate each other and to create a common path that makes us understand how issues related to culture are a necessary driving force for these peripheral places. Our thirtieth anniversary would like to be an opportunity to talk about a possible future, also through the memories and memories that places and people offer us. For some years we have been working on the production of podcasts on the small mountain villages of Abruzzo, rereading their history from different points of view so that, by listening to these stories, we can develop new possibilities for the future”.
