«Despite the solemn announcements, the Flacco anti-stadium will not host the shows at the Teatro D’Annunzio, declared unusable after four years of assessments. This is what emerged in the session of the Control and Guarantee Commission.” The announcement comes at lunchtime from Pietro Giampietro, president of the council commission, and overturns the plan of the municipal administration which believed or hoped to have overcome the stage emergency for the upcoming summer. The monument theater of Annunzio will remain unavailable for a long time due to the declared static criticality, the administration had remedied this by identifying the Flacco anti-stadium to accommodate the shows of the summer programme. Yesterday the new stop, not too surprising in truth considering that the Flacco anti-stadium needs to be redone with synthetic grass, otherwise it will not be allowed to be used by the amateur league. So the manager Enrica Di Paolo and the councilor for culture Maria Rita Carota had to make a virtue of necessity by trying to identify a different square, or rather a different stage. Giampietro himself anticipated the details: «The Pescara Events Authority, in debt and with a much criticized governance, is now negotiating with the tourist port and with the Massimo cinema theater for part of the events, which however as of today remain largely without a certain location.” Giampietro also notes the consequences for the Municipality in terms of revenue: «The mess at the D’Annunzio theater – underlines the PD group leader – will not be painless for the municipal coffers, which will be affected by the closure of the theatre, waiting for someone to clarify the mystery of the restrictions on the number of spectators allowed, of which there is no trace in the events held in recent years”. The “help” from the Chamber of Commerce has been confirmed, which will make the Marina di Pescara amphitheater available for the Jazz Festival: the reduced availability of seats suggests that it will be a low-cost edition, which the artistic director Angelo Valori wants to transform into opportunities for talented young musicians. The Massimo hypothesis is less appealing, i.e. a theater closed for events in the middle of summer. The search for alternatives continues and the mayor Carlo Masci does not give up: «The events will be held in the location that will be deemed most suitable taking into account the costs, the needs of the community, the spaces, everything needed for the show to be able to take place. be the best possible. We leave the controversies to the opposition – continues Masci -. People are interested in knowing whether the Jazz festival and the scheduled events will take place and I take this for certain. And we will intervene to remedy the structural deficiencies of the Annunzio theatre, certified by technical assessments.”
