They did what Inter did: derby and championship in one shot. It was played on Sunday afternoon 28 April 2024 at the Don Bosco oratory Cassano d’Adda the return derby between Pierino Ghezzi and Valentino Mazzola.

Sold out street race

At least five hundred spectators cheered the two teams on with passion and warmth. The match was valid for the last day of Group R of the Second Category Monza and, with the 1-0 privateer victory obtained thanks to a goal by Pantani in the first half, Granata won the championship and celebrated promotion to the first category.

Nothing to do, however, for the Gialloblu who, although fifth and therefore in the playoff zone, they will not play the post season due to the “gap” of points that separates them from second-placed Nuova Ronchese. In short, they were condemned to remain in Second Class by their cousins.

A less spectacular derby than the first leg (which also ended with an away victory: 3-2 for Ghezzi), but of great tension and balance.

Public for special occasions

Beyond the sporting result, Sunday’s match will also be remembered for the incredible crowd in front of which it was played. More than five hundred people crowded the historic field in Via Veneto.

Chants, smoke bombs and choreography that were not enough to push Ghezzi to the feat, with the yellow and blue still receiving applause from their fans at the end of the match.
