FANO – First venue for qualified competitions which attracted the participation of the most important national and foreign oil producers (the Gold of Italy has reached its fifteenth edition, the Gold of the Mediterranean at its thirteenth), then the venue for a dedicated Grand Gala to the best international oil production, Fano is becoming an increasingly protagonist in an agricultural sector that wants to stand out above all for quality.

The target

This has always been the objective of Olea, the association of expert tasters capable of discovering and detecting qualities and even the slightest defect in a sample of extra virgin olive oil. And the president of Olea Renzo Ceccacci, together with the director Giorgio Sorcinelli, presented the third edition of the Grand Oil Gala which will be held over two days next Saturday and Sunday with initiatives that will attract the best international producers. The importance of the event was underlined by the mayor Massimo Seri and the councilor for events Etienn Lucarelli who made food and wine a driving force in tourism promotion. Next Saturday we will start at 3 pm in the San Domenico art gallery with a round table on the sustainability of olive growing, a sector which, despite the quality of the product, is increasingly difficult to generate income.

Valuable oil from low quality oil

«In this regard – underlined Ceccacci – there is still a lot of work to be done to enable the consumer to distinguish a valuable oil, a panacea for health and a low quality and cheap oil, even if this year, the price of industrial oils has also become very close to that resulting from the work of individual producers”. In addition to the producers and representatives of Olea, the meeting will also include well-known university professors and researchers, consortia for the protection of PDO and PGI and the Agriculture Councilor of the Marche Region Antonini. The awards ceremony for the participants in the L’Oro d’Italia and l’Oro del Mediterraneo competitions will follow at 5pm, an event which will be introduced by the Mameli anthem performed by the children who are part of the choreo “Una scuola tra le notes” directed by the maestro Giorgio Caselli, from the greeting of the authorities and from the assignment of two awards made out to two great experts on the organoleptic qualities of extra virgin olive oil: the Antonio Ricci award which this year will be awarded to Professor Francesco Visioli and the Ettore Franca award awarded to Professor Tullia Gallina Toschi. The next day from 9 am at the Pincio an exhibition-market will be organized where you can taste and buy the best oils in Italy.
