The blue wave of Plastic Free volunteers is ready to go into action, also in the province of Latina. Over the weekend of 20 and 21 April they will be on the beaches, along the river banks, in parks and public areas to raise awareness. on plastic pollution which represents, they explain, “a danger not only for nature but also for our very survival on the planet”.
A large mobilization that will take place simultaneously throughout Italy, and beyond, and which will have as its sole objective that of freeing the environment from tons of plastic and abandoned waste. And the numbers speak for themselves: a record of 328 environmental clean-up events across the country to celebrate World Earth Day, to which are added another 6 events for the first time beyond national borders – Babati (Tanzania), Dakar ( Senegal), Barcelona and La Oliva (Spain), Mumbai (India), Salima (Malawi) -; events which, on the initiative of the vice president of the Senate, Licia Ronzulli, will be presented on Thursday 18 April at Palazzo Madama.
The Plastic Free Onlus initiative has the support of the media partner Treedom, an innovative reality that plants trees in environmental and social improvement projects.
10 appointments in the province of Latina
And the organizational machine, with all the local representatives of Plastic Free, is in full swing also in the province of Latina. There are 10 events scheduled from north to south of the Pontine territory over the weekend. We start from Latina where on Sunday 21 April the meeting is in Piazza Moro at 9.45am (this link for all the information and registration); in Sabaudia the event starts from Strada Selva Piana, at the car park of the physiotherapy hospital at 9.30 (this link for all the information and for registration), while half an hour later, at 10, the initiative is scheduled in San Felice Circeo in via Torre Paola, Sentiero Picco di Circe (this link for all information and registration). Same day and same time for the Prossedi event in Piazza Umberto I (this link for all the information and registration).
On Saturday 20 April at 10am there are two initiatives, the first in Sermoneta with an appointment in the Monticchio market area at 10am (this link for all the information and for registration) and the second in Terracina with a meeting at the parish of Santi Martiri Terracinesi on the Via Appia Antica (this link for all information and registration). The Lenola event is scheduled for 9am, starting from the “La dolce vita” bar (this link for all the information and registration) and the Fondi event in the Chiancarelle area at 9.30am (this link for all the information and for registration); in the afternoon, at 3pm, the volunteers of Pontinia are mobilized with an appointment in Piazza Kennedy (this link for all the information and to register). Maenza closes next week, at the Belvedere in via Circonvallazione, with an event at 3.30pm on Saturday 26 April.
The Plastic Free volunteers’ appeal to citizens is to participate en masse, with a few but important recommendations: “Participation is free, just sign up to the links to be covered by insurance. Bring lots of smiles and wear comfortable clothing, we’ll take care of the rest.”
