The splendid success of game three against Dierre Reggio Calabria opened the doors to the playoff semi-final for Melfa’s Gela. A goal that had been missing in the city for about ten years, an opportunity to write a new page in the history of local sport. The PalaLivatino crowd carried the team along, coach Bernardo’s team did the rest on the pitch.
«It was a really painful match against Dierre – says Danilo Salsetta, manager of Melfa’s Gela -, they are an excellent and well trained team. These are the playoffs, there are no predictions or easy games. Until halfway through the match we were quite tense, then our physicality and our technique came out. We achieved a great victory.”
For the semi-finals the challenge is a difficult one. It will be played against Academy Catanzaro, who eliminated Cus Palermo in the quarterfinals. Race one next Sunday in Calabria, race two on May 8th at PalaLivatino and a possible match the following Sunday in Catanzaro.
