The presentation press conference will be held on Saturday 25th at 4pm
It will be the club house of the tennis club in Via Laviano in Caserta, which will host the press conference presenting the thirty-fifth edition of the “Women’s International Tennis City of Caserta” at 4.00 pm on Saturday 25 May, which will take place from June 2nd to 9th.
On Saturday afternoon the curtain will rise on the 2024 edition of the Caserta tournament with the COGEPA Trophy up for grabs with a prize pool of $60,000.00.
The organizational machine is already being set up, the tennis club in the capital of Terra di Lavoro, chaired by Massimo Rossi, will be transformed into a small village entirely dedicated to the competition and its protagonists.
The gazebos to shelter from the sun, the small wooden houses to welcome visitors and exhibitors, are ready for installation.
At the same time, the bookings of tennis players on the acceptance list of the ITF Women website are growing.
In first place is the Czech Brenda Fruhvirtova number 102 in the WTA ranking, followed by the Latvian Darja Semenistaja (122), the Brazilian Laura Pigossi (125) and the Austrian Julia Grabher (143).
The Italian Lucrezia Stefanini (179) is on the list, followed by the finalist of the 2023 edition, the Cypriot Raluca Georgiana Serban (190), who was defeated in the final by the American Hailey Baptiste in two sets with a score of 6-3; 6-2, also on the list is Anastasia Tikhonova (170), who was also beaten in the semi-final by Baptiste last year.
In the qualifying draw there are old acquaintances from the Caserta tournament such as the French Kristina Mladenovic, (220) winner of the 2022 edition of the internationals in the capital of Terra di Lavoro, the Greek Despina Papamichail (231) and the Slovenian Dalila Jakupovic (216).
The Caserta tournament is the only 60 thousand dollar tournament that takes place on the European continent in the week from 3 to 9 June. The Caserta event with the tournaments of Grado, Brescia, Roma Antico Tiro a Volo and Cordenons makes up the group of 5 tournaments worth 60 thousand taking place in Italy.
The press conference on Saturday afternoon will be attended by the president of the club Massimo Rossi, the CEO of Cogepa Massimo Mazzocchini, the regional president of the tennis federation Virginia Di Caterino, the provincial delegate of the Caserta Cones Michele De Simone and the political authorities.
One of the new features of the 2024 edition announced concerns the final which will be played on the afternoon of Sunday 9 June, the others will be announced on Saturday afternoon.
