The tragedy deeply affected the community, especially on the eve of Labor Day. “While we are preparing to celebrate all workers on May Day, a worker from Fontanelle (province of Treviso) dies. He died today while he was working on a crane in Fiume Veneto, Friuli. Yet another tragedy at work that horrifies us and leaves us dismayed. It is not acceptable that those who leave to go to work cannot return home. An innocent person dies and in this new mourning we join the victim’s family, to whom our condolences go, to say enough, enough and enough. Also Uil Veneto tomorrow it will be in Piazza della Repubblica in Monfalcone together with the national secretary Bombardieri and, on that occasion, will make his voice heard again to keep attention high on his Zero Deaths at Work campaign, so that it can become the initiative of all people”.

Autonomy-Civic FVG: “Deep bitterness for yet another tragedy”.

The regional councilors of the FVG Civic Autonomy Pact Massimo Moretuzzo, Enrico Bullian, Simona Liguori, Giulia Massolino and Marco Putto express their condolences.

“On the eve of May 1st, Labor Day, we reiterate theappeal for safety in the workplace which passes through a culture of prevention – says group leader Moretuzzo –. A strong and effective commitment is needed to counter an intolerable massacre. Safe work is not a utopia, and requires starting a discussion also on the labor inspection system which in our region pays the price for a significant shortage of staff. Faced with this situation, we are convinced that regional rankings would have numerous advantages.”
