Mario Rosini, return to Bourbon Street in Naples

An appearance in a program on Rai’s flagship network should not be used to certify the pure and indisputable talent of Mario Rosinia prestigious musician and singer who in 2004, just twenty years ago, came second at the Sanremo Festival with the song “Sei la mia vita” and on Thursday 2 May he will be on stage with his trio at Bourbon Street Jazz Club in Naples.

Yet, in a time that replaces sociability with social networks, talent with talents and sharing – singular, analogue and three-dimensional – with plural, digital and flattened ones on a screen, the units of measurement of value are “likes” and views, followers and, indeed, shares.

Even in the final of The Voice Seniorthe talent show recently broadcast on Rai Uno, the musician from Gioia del Colle, ironically, placed second (with the Arisa team). And after a long absence from the cathode proscenium he reminded the country that musically exiled him of the wonders of which he is capable, interpreting songs from a timeless singer-songwriter.

Rosini, one of the brightest talents that Italy has expressed in recent years, has been linked to Pino Danielewhich produced him two instrumental records, and a Mia Martini from an artistic and human harmony (he is president of the artistic commission of the Award dedicated to Mimì) and returns to the club in via Bellini after the performance organized last year by the Live Tones association. Gifted with a refined timbre and an extraordinary vocal range, he is also a skilled pianist. After winning the “Cantapuglia” in 1976 and the Cantagiro in 1980, he studied at the Niccolò Piccinni Conservatory in Bari before embarking on a solo career in Milan. Accompanying him in the concert scheduled for Thursday evening at the Bourbon (starting at 10pm, heading towards sold out), Claudio Romano on drums and Dario Spinelli on bass.

During his career, the vocalist and musician from Bari, holder of the chair of jazz singing at the Matera Conservatory, has opened concerts for Al Jarreau, Dionne Warwick, Toots Thielemans and Michael Bublè and has sung with Bobby McFerrin, Dee Dee Bridgwater, Gino Vannelli, Sarah Jane Morris, Phil Palmer and Pino Daniele himself, as well as several Italian artists.
