Modica, Pippo Pattavina returns to the stage of the Garibaldi theatre

Pippo Pattavina (in the photo), a cornerstone of Sicilian theatre, is the protagonist at the Teatro Garibaldi in Modica of “Pensaci Giacomino”, a comedy by Luigi Pirandello that plays on the hypocrisy of social conventions. Directed by Guglielmo Ferro, on Saturday 20 April at 9.00 pm and Sunday 21 April at 6.30 pm, the Sicilian showman will be on stage with a rich cast composed of Debora Bernardi, Bianca Caliri, Diana D’Amico, Francesca Ferro, Giuseppe Parisi, Giampaolo Romania, Riccardo M. Tarci, Aldo Toscano and little Brando Salerno Piemonte. Pirandellian humor is on stage which addresses and criticizes the hypocrisy and the masks behind which ordinary people hide their lack of ethical principles. A masterful Pippo Pattavina plays Professor Agostino Toti, an elderly high school teacher who is discredited in the eyes of pupils and colleagues, offended towards a society and a State to which he blames his failure, who decides to marry Lillina, a very young girl who is expecting a child from the young Giacomino. Professor Toti, by choosing to marry the girl, carries out a gesture of social rebellion that disturbs and destabilizes the balance of a culture dictated by rigid conventions and conduct. In this work Pirandello perfectly manages to contrast the struggle between individual values ​​and social expectations, between ethical and moral duties. Although the play was written more than a century ago, it remains very current and the issues addressed, such as social pressure, personal authenticity and generational conflict, they will offer the public a stimulating reflection on society and the individual.
