The firefighters intervened in Strada La Rizza in the municipality of Verona. A methane-fueled van it was transporting caught fire various materials including paper, solvents and paints.
During the path the driver noticed smoke coming out of the vehicle’s air vents. Once he stopped, he could do nothing but walk away as the flames, which were coming out of the engine compartment, were already affecting the cabin.
The firefighters of the Scaliger command, on site with a fire engine, a tanker and seven operators put out the flames using foam, made the vehicle safe by cooling the methane cylinders involved in the fire with abundant jets of water and handled the transported load to verify that there were no other active outbreaks.
During operations, which ended around 11 am, the traffic, managed by local police personnel, has suffered some slowdowns.
