There Court of Appeal of Turin confirmed the existence of acriminal association within the “Drughi” group and has increased sentences for five members of the organized supporters of the Juventustried in the investigation Last Banner. The judges recalculated the sentence for Dino Mocciola at eight years in prison (compared to the four years and ten months imposed in the first instance).
While Salvatore Cava, Sergio Genre, Umberto Toia and Giuseppe Franzo will have to serve respectively four years and seven months, four years and six months, four years and three months, 3 years and 11 months of imprisonment. A victory for the Bianconeri who had formed themselves as a civil party.
Juve, the Last Banner case
The Digos investigation began in 2018-2019 after a complaint filed by the company Juventus, in which the club highlighted a series of acts of extortion by some members of the Ultras group in order to receive free tickets and other privileges. And the reaction of the organized fans was anything but calm, with strikes, excesses and inappropriate behavior to try to defend “their status”.
The comment from Juventus’ lawyers
“This result, which was achieved with a joint action by the police headquarters and Juventus, is also the result of the commitment made to increase the functionality of the stadiums. Without the complex organizational machine set up for safety it would never have been possible to know in detail what was happening on the curve” – he has declared Luigi Chiappero, the lawyer who together with his colleague Maria Turco defended the Juventus as a civil party in the Last Banner appeal process.
He then added that the ruling of the judges is also “a victory for the prosecutor’s office, which was able to highlight the shortcomings of the first instance sentence”. In the courtroom the accusation was supported by prosecutor Chiara Maina. Alberto Pairetto, the Slo (supporter liason officer) of the Bianconeri, also joined the civil action. The investigation was coordinated by the Digos of the Turin Police Headquarters, led by the manager Carlo Ambra.
Juve, the fans support Agnelli
Meanwhile on social media, fans have taken the side of the club and former president Andrea Agnelli. Since the beginning of the investigation, the Bianconeri have stood in support of their team and now after this further condemnation they continue to do so. “Let’s see how many other clubs have the courage to do what Juventus did, clean the stadium of people who have little to do with sport“, “It would be nice if all clubs followed Juve’s example, but unfortunately I suspect that this won’t happen because it’s too strong and decisive a stance to take. It would benefit everyone”, “So Andrea Agnelli was right” – these are some comments that appeared on X. All on the same side for the good and the image of Juventus.
