Caserta

An anti-racket pact for the construction industry was signed at the Chamber of Commerce by the president Tommaso De Simone, by the president of the anti-racket association “SOS Impresa” Caserta Maurizio Pollini and by the regional president “SOS Impresa – Network for the legality of Campania” Luigi Cuomo ; a pact that gives participating construction companies the opportunity to post a very explicit sign outside the construction site, with the words “this company has joined the anti-racket pact with the police”, a clear warning to the extortionists of the Camorra clans, that can dissuade them. But also an invitation to companies to report extortion or even usury, given that many reports arrive at the SOS Impresa desk, but then the telephone outbursts do not turn into formal complaints to the police. For the prefect of Caserta Giuseppe Castaldo it is an “important pact in continuity with the provincial observatory inaugurated a few days ago and with the agreements signed with the Chamber of Commerce and universities, but then it is necessary for entrepreneurs to also report to access the funds of solidarity”. The president of the Caserta Chamber of Commerce De Simone applauds the initiative given that “the companies that join the pact – he explains – undertake to immediately report to the police any attempt at influence by criminals, therefore any requests for protection money but also situations related to usury. It is an experience that aims to raise awareness among companies and which was born in Naples, where around forty companies have joined the Pact, who have put up the banner outside the construction site, and it has emerged that they do not no clan members showed up.” The hope of the signatories of the anti-racket pact and the representatives of the police forces present at the signing is that numerous construction companies will join.
