A thirty-six year long martyrdom. Ruffilli, memory carved in bronze

A thirty-six year long martyrdom. Ruffilli, memory carved in bronze
Descriptive text here

Thirty-six years ago the Red Brigades captured DC senator Roberto Ruffilli in his home on Corso Diaz. And yesterday the city was united in the memory of that assassination with the celebrations opened by the mass of Bishop Livio Corazza, in the church of Sant’Antonio Abate in Ravaldino, in front of the house of the barbarian ambush.

At the end of the religious rite and in the presence of the president of the Roberto Ruffilli Foundation, Pier Giuseppe Dolcini, the mayor Gian Luca Zattini, the rector of the University of Bologna Giovanni Molari, a wreath of flowers was placed under the two tombstones which, at 106 Corso Diaz, remember the tragic event. Subsequently, a bronze bust, the work of the sculptor Augusto Neri, was inaugurated inside the university campus of Forlì. Ruffilli’s figure was also remembered by his niece, Franca Ferri, a journalist.

The murderers and supporters were all arrested and convicted, with the testimony of 36 fellow citizens who with great civic sense nailed the accused. Born in 1936, Roberto Ruffilli, university professor, leader of the Christian Democrats, became the most listened to point of reference for Ciriaco De Mita, prime minister, who had tasked him with giving life to a substantial state reform project.
